Seamus Ryan’s photography reflects his strong passion for people and the portrait genre. His studio, situated in the heart of Columbia Road Flower Market, has become home to a unique series of projects (www.sundayshoots.com ) involving members of the public. On selected Sundays hundreds of people happily participate in these shoots, which aim to explore the many possibilities of portraiture. Seamus’ easy Irish charm and strong lighting skills calm even the most nervous subject and he is rapidly developing a reputation as ‘the people’s photographer’.
During the week Seamus concentrates on his advertising and editorial work. He has worked on countless national and international campaigns for a wide variety of clients including Lotto, Yahoo, RNIB, Pink Fridays (Breast Cancer Care),Oxfam, Bloomberg, Guinness, Yellow Pages, Nike, British Airways and the BBC. He has been awarded by The Association of Photographers and D&AD for his work and has work included in the National Portrait Gallery’s permanent collection.
Seamus lives in Stoke Newington with his lovely wife, three children and a border terrier called Ziggy.
